President’s Day

Today we celebrate our patriotic past by honoring our leaders. Originally established in 1885 to celebrate our first president, George Washington, it is still known as “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. In honor of this holiday, below are a few of our favorite presidential quotes:

“Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.” – George Washington

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt

“Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” – John F. Kennedy

“The American Dream means giving it your all, trying your hardest, accomplishing something. And then I’d add to that, giving something back. No definition of a successful life can do anything but include serving others.” – George H. W. Bush

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama
