Super Bowl Recipe

Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner and aside from which team you’ll be rooting for the most important question is what food will you be serving? We would like to share with you a Western Mutual favorite which is sure to be a first-pick with your guest. The game plan is as follows;

  • 1 container of cream cheese (room temperature)
  • Half an onion peeled and diced into small pieces
  • 1 jalapeno deseeded and cut into small pieces
  • 1 pack of ranch dressing powder
  • 6 slices of cooked bacon, crumble into bits

Line a bowl with clear plastic wrap and mix all ingredients until ranch powder has been thoroughly blended into the cream cheese. Pull mix out of the bowl using wrap and fold over to completely wrap the dip. Shape into a football or any shape of your liking and serve with chips for a perfect Super Bowl Sunday appetizer.

Partaking in Hot Dog Month?

July marks National Hot Dog Month and the season in which most hot dogs are consumed. According to the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council’s website, the Hot Dog name was coined in 1901 by a cartoonist trying to help shorten its original name—Dachshund Sausages. Unsure of how to spell Dachshund, the artist dropped it and shortened what vendors were yelling from “Get your dachshund sausages while they’re red hot!” to simply Hot Dogs!

Today, hot dog preparation can be described as an art. Everyone has their go-to preferred toppings and condiments which make each unique! From the most popular mustard topping to ketchup, relish, sauerkraut, onions and even chocolate, everyone’s taste buds vary drastically. From tips on how to properly eat a hot dog, Baseball stadium hot dog guides to glossary of terms, be sure to check out the NHDSC website for unique facts on this American summer tradition. Note that there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options out there. Check out some veggie hot dog ideas provided by Brit+Co.
